Corridor Sports Tournament Adaptations

5 run cap per inning games- C Level/ 8u

Once time has expired, the game will end immediately if the losing team is trailing by at least 6 runs (the number of allowed runs per half inning +1).

The score is the score and will not revert back.

If the run differential is 5 runs or less the game must be played out (just like any normal softball game).

If time expires and the home home team is at bat and ahead the game ends (just like any normal softball game).

This should be covered at the home plate meeting between umpires and coaches.

If there any questions that cannot be answered by the umpire then the site director and/or UIC need to be found to provide clarification. Our goal is to get it right and play the game!

Coin Flip

Pool Play/ Round Robin- Ump will always do a coin flip for all pool play/ round robin games

Bracket- During bracket games the higher seed always has the option of home or visitor. If the two teams playing are of the same seed (#3 Pool A vs #3 Pool B) then a coin flip will decide home.

General Time Limits

Time limits for 8u games are 60 minutes  (pool play and bracket play).

For 9u to 18u all games are 70 minutes (pool play and bracket play).

Game Balls

8u- 10u will use 11" USSSA game balls (blue stitch only)

11u-18u will use 12" USSSA game balls (blue stitch only)

Umps will handle all game balls

All teams are required to turn in 2 game balls at check-in.

Consolation Bracket Games

All consolation bracket games can end in a tie. No consolation bracket games will go to extra innings. This is because a lot of the fields we use in the Coralville/ North Liberty area do NOT have lights and we cannot afford to fall behind where it would affect cutting the championship game short on time.

Extra Innings

1st extra inning- We will follow stand International Tie Breakers rules with 0 out and last completed at bat on 2nd base

2nd extra inning (and on)- We will start with 0 out and last two complete at bats on 2nd and 3rd base

Jewelry

The wearing of jewelry is no longer enforced by USSSA rules. It is only enforced if the umpire deems the jewelry to be worn to be a distraction to the other team or potential safety hazard to that player. If it is deemed to be a distraction or safety hazard the ump will advise the player and coach that the jewelry must be removed to continue play.

USSSA Rules

Besides what we have listed above we will follow standard Iowa USSSA Softball Rules.

Divisions for Tournaments

Corridor Sports reserves the right to combine divisions  when a division doesn't have enough teams to fully run. For example if 10uB has 7 teams and 10u Open has 1 team we would put all 8 teams into a 10u Open division.
